DIAGNOSTICS

Specialists of Center for Rehabilitation, Prevention and Traditional Medicine «Altmed» using specially designed schemes implement a full examination health status of patients, which includes determination of the risk of development major chronic diseases taking into account bad habits, factors of genetic predisposition to various diseases, responding to stressful situations, errors of the diet, mental and physical loads, and also identification of pathological conditions and the initial stages of diseases.

Diagnostic algorithm in the Medical Center «Altmed» — along with the general clinical (with the aim the establishment of indications and possible contraindications for carrying treatment measures), neurological (for the detection lesions of the central and peripheral nervous systems) and orthopedic (to determine the pathology of the musculoskeletal system) examination of patients according to the indications scheduled to conduct radiologic (functional x-rays and magnetic resonance imaging), instrumental (duplex scanning main blood vessels of the head and neck, ENMG (electroneuromyography), EEG (electroencephalogram), ECG (electrocardiogram), Ultrasound, gastroscopy, colonoscopy, etc.) and laboratory (general blood analysis, biochemical blood analysis, coagulogram, general urine analysis and general analysis of feces) medical examination.

In the Medical Center «Altmed» carried out highly informative diagnostic methods with the use of technologies of modern science of the West:

  • Densitometry — the «gold standard» for the diagnosis of osteoporosis:

— diagnosis of violations compositional body composition (determination of bone density) using the method x-ray osteodensitometry (recognized as the «gold standard» in the diagnosis of osteoporosis, prevention of fractures, and also evaluating the effectiveness of treatment) on a dual-energy multisite osteodensitometry device «STRATOS» of the companies «DMS» (France), built on «DXA» technology (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) with the program «full body».

  • C13 urease breath test (UBT) the «gold standard» for the diagnosis of the helibacillosis (infection of the stomach with a bacterium Helicobacter pylori):

— this test has high level of sensitivity (100%), reliability (98,5%) and specificity (100%), and allows you to determine not only availability a bacterium Helicobacter pylori, but also its quantity; it is carried out on the analyzer «FAN hp» of the companies «Fisher» (Germany) and used before, during and after treatment as a control the effectiveness of treatment patients with stomach and duodenal ulcer, and also in a comprehensive examination gastrointestinal tract with the following symptoms: discomfort and pain (predominantly in the upper abdomen), bloating, heartburn, belching, nausea, vomiting, bad breath, violation of defecation, weight loss, rosacea (pink acne on the face).

  • Duplex scanning of veins and arteries

— one of the most accurate methods for diagnosing the condition of blood vessels. It combines traditional ultrasound — ultrasound examination of adjacent tissues, as well as Doppler sonography of blood vessels. USDS in our «AltMed» clinic is performed on a modern «Logiq F8» device of the companies «General Electric» (USA). With the help of this examination, the structure, performance, and patency of blood vessels are assessed, areas with narrowing and expansion, blood clots, atherosclerotic plaques are detected, and blood flow velocity is measured:

— for the purpose of differential diagnostics of various types of cerebral circulation disorders in pathology of the cervical spine, transcranial duplex scanning of the brachiocephalic arteries and veins is performed to assess the functional state of the arterial and venous systems of the brain.

— for the purpose of differential diagnosis of arterial and neurological pathology of the lower extremities in case of pathology of the lumbosacral spine, to assess the functional state of the arterial and venous system of the lower extremities, duplex scanning of the arteries and veins of the lower extremities is performed.

Ultrasound (ultrasound examination) or sonography

is a modern non-invasive and safe method of medical examination of the body, using high-frequency sound waves, the level of reflection of which differs from body tissues of different density. Ultrasound in our «AltMed» clinic is carried out on a modern device «Logiq F8» of the company «General Electric» (USA).

  • Ultrasound of the musculoskeletal system: ……….

Ultrasound examination of muscles: Currently, ultrasound examination of the musculoskeletal system is one of the main methods for diagnosing diseases and injuries of bones, ligaments, tendons, articular cartilage, muscles, peripheral nerves and blood vessels, and is the “gold standard” when examining tendons. Ultrasound (ultrasound examination) of soft tissues is a type of safe and informative examination carried out using ultrasound. Soft tissues are muscles, tendons, fatty tissue, skin, as well as connective tissue and lymph nodes. These structures can become inflamed, injured, be a growth point for neoplasms, contain a hernia, and each of these conditions requires diagnosis and treatment.

Ultrasound examination of peripheral nerves: Ultrasound examination of the peripheral nervous system was first used to diagnose diseases of the nerve trunks in the late 90-s of the last century. In recent years, thanks to the ultrasound method, it has become possible to study in more detail the features of the pathology of the peripheral nervous system, to promptly identify certain diseases of the nerve trunks. The high resolution of modern ultrasound devices makes it possible to more accurately indicate the location, extent and depth of damage to the nerve trunks, as well as its cause. The introduction of ultrasound sonography into clinical practice has successfully filled the gaps in the diagnosis of peripheral nerve diseases. With the beginning of the use of this method, its undeniable advantages over other diagnostic methods became clear.

Ultrasound examination of joints: allows to assess the condition of the main elements of the joint — the integumentary cartilage, subchondral plate, synovial bursa, ligamentous apparatus, menisci and other elements, mainly of the shoulder, hip, elbow and ankle joints. Joints are often examined using radiography, but this method is informative only for determining bone damage. If it is necessary to study the condition of soft tissues, joint capsule, tendons or cartilage, then an ultrasound examination is necessary. During the examination, the doctor can assess: the evenness of the joint contours; the presence of pathological processes in the cartilaginous tissue (for example, thinning); the condition of the joint space (the presence of expansions or narrowings); the condition of the bone on the outer layer of the joint; the homogeneity of the intra-articular synovial fluid (the presence/absence of threads, flakes, other inclusions).

Ultrasound examination of abdominal organs: a complex diagnostic procedure that visualizes the liver, gallbladder and its ducts, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, and abdominal vessels. Using an ultrasound machine, you can obtain information about the location, shape, size, structure, and motor activity of internal organs. The study allows you to identify neoplasms, inflammatory diseases, stones, cysts, and the consequences of injuries.

Ultrasound examination of the pelvic organs: the most effective method for detecting various pathologies in the reproductive and urinary systems in people of different ages. It is performed on men, women and children. In women, the specialist diagnoses the ovaries, uterus, bladder, and also determines pregnancy at an early stage. In men, the diagnostician evaluates the functional state and physiological structure of the pelvic organs; these include the prostate gland, regional lymph nodes and tissues, seminal vesicles, and bladder.

  • Ultrasound of secretory organs: ……….

— Ultrasound examination of the thyroid gland: this is a non-invasive diagnostic method for the purpose of identifying diseases such as nodes, cysts, tumors, as well as autoimmune thyroiditis and hypothyroidism. The study also allows you to determine the size and shape of the thyroid gland and assess its position and structure.

— Ultrasound examination of the mammary glands: is one of the most effective and safe methods of diagnosing mammary gland diseases. Currently, this study occupies a key position in the early diagnosis and prevention of breast cancer, as well as in the detection of other pathological changes – the presence of tumors, cysts, nodes and other anomalies.

— aimed at studying morphological and functional changes in the heart and its valve apparatus. This is one of the main and irreplaceable methods for diagnosing any heart disease. This study evaluates the size of the heart and its individual structures (ventricles, atria, interventricular septum, thickness of the myocardium of the atria and ventricles), contractility of the heart (ejection fraction, cardiac output, etc.), the presence and volume of fluid in the pericardial cavity, the condition of the heart valves, as well as, in Doppler mode, blood flow in the heart and great vessels; direction and speed of blood flow in real time. Ultrasound of the heart in the «AltMed» clinic is performed on a modern «Logiq F8» device from company «General Electric» (USA).

— method of electrophysiological instrumental diagnostics. The study is a continuous recording of an electrocardiogram for 24 hours or more (48, 72 hours, sometimes up to 7 days). ECG recording is carried out via 2, 3 or more channels using a special portable recorder (recorder), which the patient carries with him (on a shoulder strap or on a belt). Holter monitoring is one of the most popular methods for diagnosing heart rhythm disorders.

– this is a study of the bioelectric activity of the brain in order to identify various disorders in its work: epileptic foci, inflammatory, tumor and other diseases. Electroencephalography is a highly informative method of diagnosing the state of the nervous system based on the registration of bioelectric potentials of the cerebral cortex in the process of its vital activity. Sensors on the patient’s head are positioned so as to record the activity of all parts of the brain. As a result, using an electroencephalogram, it is possible to analyze the performance of the brain as a whole, identify pathological foci, assess the nature and degree of damage, make an accurate diagnosis, determine treatment tactics or monitor the effectiveness of therapy. The EEG examination at the «AltMed» clinic is carried out using a 32-channel «EasyIII» device from «Cadwell Industries» (USA) using the standard international placement of electrodes 10-20. In our practice, we use Worldwide Neurology, a website dedicated to helping transfer the results of EEG studies in remote settlements of developing countries to neurologists around the world. This site facilitates the transmission of the results of the EEG examination, and also transmits the report in PDF format for inclusion in the patient’s chart.

— diagnostics of the structural and functional state peripheral nerves and muscles (allows you to identify the lesion spinal cord roots, peripheral nerves and nerve plexuses, the lesion of muscle and disorder neuromuscular transmission) based on registration and analysis of parameters of evoked biopotentials (including the study of the H-reflex and the F-wave) using the method of stimulation electroneuromyography and needle myography on the devices of companies «Neuropack Σ MEB-5508A» (Nihon Kohden, Japan) and «Neurocare B-34» (Shanghai Peak Health Biotechnology, China).

— to determine the degree of pathological changes in muscles, fascia, tendons and ligaments by the method of myofascial diagnosis;

— for determining the body type, the degree of muscle development, suboptimal motor stereotype and study of the length of the lower limbs by the method of anthropometry (measurement of the human body and its parts, measurement of mass (weight), muscle strength);

— to determine the degree of flattening of the foot, the type of flat feet and identification of the spring function of the foot using plantography by the Smirnov method (examination of the state of the feet by the imprint of the plantar surface).

— psychodiagnostics of the patient’s emotional and mental state;

— psychodiagnostics of the problems of children and adolescents;

— psychodiagnostics of depression, stress, fears, obsessive idea, social phobias, etc.;

— individual and family counseling.

— analysis of speech disorders;

— analysis of voice disorders;

— analysis of reading and writing disorders.

In addition to modern special diagnostic methods, diagnostics are also carried out using the centuries-old experience of Oriental medicine:

VRTdiagnostics – exploration of the functional state of the body using vegetative resonance testing, and also execution medicamentous testing in order to select effective medicaments for a particular patient (including rational antibiotic therapy) with the determination of the efficiency, portability and compatibility of various medicines, their single dose and possible side effects; food products with the definition of an individual diet therapy scheme; dental and filling materials, etc. on the device of the hardware and software complex «MiniExpert-DT» of the companies «Imedis» (Russia);

pulse diagnostics – exploration of the functional state of the organism by pulse according to the canons of classical Chinese Medicine on the computer pulse diagnostic complex «ВедаПульс» of the companies «БИОКВАНТ» (Russia);

auriculodiagnostics – realization of non-specific topical diagnostics of diseases of organs and systems of the body by the method of computer multifactorial auricular diagnostics;

Su-jok diagnostics – integral evaluation of the patient’s condition using an acupuncture microcomputer apparatus «Eastern Healer» of the companies «TENS» (China);

iridodiagnostics – evaluation of the patient’s body condition by signs on the iris of the eye (changes in the shape, structure, color and mobility of the iris of the eye).

visual diagnostics (“somatoscopy” – examination of descriptive signs of addition and body proportions) to determine body type, degrees of musculature development, non-optimal movement patterns, functional disorders of the joints and curvature of the body, spine and limbs (scoliosis, kyphosis, posture disorders, etc.);

palpatory examination of anatomical formations of the musculoskeletal system (tactile assessment of the condition of the spine, joints, muscle tissue and skin) to detect joints mobility, myogenic trigger points and regional muscle disbalance;

examination of the spine, pelvis and its joints, joints of the extremities and the muscular system (functional examination of active and passive movements, identification of specific articular phenomena – the so-called “gelencspiel” orjoint play”) to detect local functional blockages and local functional hypermobility.

Presumptive diagnosis is being verified the practice of subsequent treatment and diagnostic measures, resulting from it, as well as the observation of the dynamics of the disease. Patient health monitoring during treatment it is carried out using developed in our clinic «ComplexHealth Monitoring Systems».
